Saturday................................................ Same as last year.... weather is beautiful as you can't expect more in summer time... 60-70s... wow.... a true bless.... and we are so canto..when we were taking pictures instead of one-two-three-cheers.... we said.... yat-yee-sam-"char siu" (Roast pork in canto)...
Here is the recap that I stole from Kirby... (edit version)
"For the third year, I played with Christ Like Fellowship United, which has since taken root at Queens Herald Church from CT Elmhurst. It's so Cantothat we count off our rally cheers with Yut-Yee-Sam, instead ofOne-Two-Three. Now I know how the Strangers do it. After defeating Grace Faith Church10-2 in our opening game (where Kirby got benched for 3 innings for notgoing to practice...hahaha..he said he deserved it), we went head to head with New York Chinese Alliance Church. After four innings we were tied 3-3, and we exploded in the 5th inningwith 14 runs to win 17-3. The toughest game thus far was the third divisional game against Pastor Al Warren's Long Island Alliance Church. We were down for most of the game, but clawed our way back. Going into the bottom of the 6th inning we were down 7-5 with the last licks and the meat of our order coming up. Moment of truth...just how far has this squad come from the first year we played together getting destroyed. We managed to load the bases with one out. Double play and we could miss the playoffs...and nothing has gotten past the infield thus far with some snazzy web gems by LIAC. A visit to the pitcher'smound and you could see the tension from the team. Yim Lam, our 2B and our Most Improved Player of this year's tournament, comes to bat and hits a towering shot into LF over the left fielder's head. Game winning, 3-RBI walk off double. We go into the playoffs with an 8-7 victory and undefeated...earning a second place seed behind OCM, who shut out all 3 teams they faced (although CT Elmhurst did score 2 unearned runsagainst them in their first game).
That's when the good newsended. Our semifinal match saw us at the same field we lost to OCM lastyear, and this year it was no different. Same field, same ump, different team, same result. We got smoked by Boston Chinese Evangelical Church 9-2, who we tied last year. This year their competitive and rec teams merged to form one team, and props to driving down to play again. Talkabout hardcore. They played well defensively and offensively. Ouroffense also just picked a bad time to disappear. Nonetheless, it was aton of fun and a great success."
and now..... as usual.... massive pics and videos.... Props to Rachel, Desmond, Mom, Steve, Gary, Allison, Jasmine, Charlotte, Jackson, Feilo and Silvia to come out and support us.....
From left................A very calm camera man..... right.................a very "low profile" rally
Left - Warning...do not watch at night..... a late reaction after carama woman found out that we won ...... right.....a "high profile" rally...
Introducing CLF Baseball Cards.....
What's wrong with those pictures? There are four guys who didn't move or change pose.. guess who..
hm...... what else...... i have no complain at all..... another successful year for us....
Sunday.......................... The day after the tournament, pretty much the whole team went to Dave & Busters in celebrations of another year "older" of our softball career..
Premature gamer........ thought Cheong would be good at it.... and...... he shocked the whole world as he played and explained... and if you've been to Hong Kong's Arcade... this is how ppl play there... watch how Teresa play....
and me got too excited while I am racing with the whole CLF Crew....
It was a good weekend, especially what we've been experienced on Saturday, we weren't that good three years ago.... we came together because we just want to play softball. I remember when I founded this team with Kirby, Cheong and Johnson, we were the only ones who actually have some baseball knowledge and skills.... we never thought that we can go this far.. and after the game 3 comeback, I kept on telling Cheong and Kirby that God have just taught us another lesson... He taught us how to believe as a team and have faith on everyone else..... every year we learned a lesson, we humble as we play while we maintain competitive... this is a true lesson for us and there were 23 on our team that day witnessed... including few non-Christians (my mom as well..)
a sincere thanks to everyone on our team and friends that we've made from another churches throughout the season...
